At the core of Legacy Basketball Academy lies a journey that began with one man's unwavering determination to turn dreams into reality. Coach Dave Bargamento's love for sports ignited at a young age, fueled not by innate talent but by sheer dedication and relentless effort. Through the guidance of mentors and the embodiment of values such as respect, discipline, and dedication, he transformed his aspirations into achievements.
As Coach Dave stepped into fatherhood, he discovered a new passion—nurturing young talents. Volunteering at the Homestead YMCA, he coached children of diverse ages and skill levels, laying the foundation for what would become his life's mission. Fueling his desire to expand his impact, he established a travel team, competing in prestigious circuits like AAU and USSSA and shaping the next generation of athletes. From 2006-2008 he served on the varsity basketball coaching staff for South Dade High school, and from 2008-2010 he served on the varsity basketball coaching staff for Palmetto High school. During his tenure at Palmetto High, he had the opportunity to help develop great players like current NBA veteran Tim Hardaway Jr. during his playing days at Palmetto High.
While coaching remained his heart's pursuit, Coach Dave's commitment to his community led him to create Goulds, Florida's first organized adult basketball league. For years, he brought together individuals from all walks of life, fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship on the court. Some notable local legends who participated in this league included NBA Champion/3x NBA All-Star Glenn Rice, Super Bowl Champion Antrell Rolle, and D1 West Virginia forward Johnathan Holton to name a few.
Throughout his journey, Coach Dave left an indelible mark on the basketball landscape. Yet, his true calling remained clear—to mold and develop the next generation of basketball stars. With a heart fueled by passion and a vision fueled by love for player development, Legacy Basketball Academy was born on October 2022. It stands as a testament to Coach Dave's unwavering dedication, shaping not only athletes but future leaders both on and off the court.
